Chris:  I too had to find a scsi card on a budget about 18 months ago.  Adaptec
was too expensive but I found another card that works really well.
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the exact name and model without rebooting :-(

But, I believe the name is like "Advan-sys" and it was about $90 - $ 110 IIRC.

Check the SCSI hardware compatability list for Linux - I found it there and
bought it online.
