Fetchmail will fetch and then feed your mail from the remote pop3 server to a locally running mail server (usually sendmail). You can the point any client you want at the mail server on your local machine to read your mail. In kmail settings > congigure kmail > check sendmail > and make sure it knows the location of the sendmail executable on your local system.
