The reason he probably brought it up is the annoying way that Eudora
handles all incoming attachments. Most clients I've tried, when
recognizing attachments as such, nonetheless keep them in MIME code
though they may hide the code and show them as an icon in the body or a
link at bottom.

Eudora decodes them upon receipt and stores them in a specified
directory. This behavior seems to have one advantage in that you can
save the body of the message while discarding the space hogging
attachment. This is not often possible with the mail clients that
retain the attachments as code until the user explicitly acts to decode
them. These latter types usually retain the code with the message even
after decoding. Eudora is similar in that when you act to save an
attachment, a copy is made from the one in the attachment directory.
The attachment directory copy remains. However, you can navigate to
the attachment directory and delete the attachment from there. Once
you do its gone forever since Eudora does not store the MIME code with
the body. That benefit aside, it can be annoying having all those
attachments accumulate that you don't really want. Especially since
Eudora often seems to ignore the option to "delete attachments when
deleting the message". I frequently have to go in and manually delete
a ton of signatures from this list. (That too can get annoying since
-- even though it is the fault of my own software -- I generally could
care less whether you are who you say you are in the context of a list
like this.)
