More immediately, I see that the K8/Hammers are using the ATX12V one that
the P4's have been using the past couple years.  Until now, it's been the
standard ATX for the K7/Athlons.

Are those the power supplies with the two extra cables?

I agree. My entire case was only $40 including the power supply. This is the first time that a power supply blew out on me. In the past, it was just a matter of the fan wearing out. In any "case", always do a 24-hour burn-in.
