Re: [PLUG] Walmart Lindows PC?

Is this a good price for a 850Mhz duron? I haven't been folowing the prices
in a while.

$100 for CPU and mo'bo'
$25 RAM
$50 hard drive
$22 CD-ROM drive
$15 modem (Lucent Winmodem)
$35 case
$8 speakers
$10 keyboard
$10 mouse
$10 floppy (not included in Wal-mart PC)
$7 computer show ticket
$8 gas for local show and some snacks

Total $300

Based on online shopping including shipping and a computer show trip. Basically, the Wal-mart PC isn't a bad deal for a system that is assembled and tested with Linux. Building your own would make sense if you already have a bunch of parts sitting around, or if you want to hand pick the parts, and if you have the time.
