Another question relating to my use of Mandrake Single Network Firewall 7.2 as a dialup gateway: I would like to use it as a print server as well. I have installed cups from the Mandrake ftp site (version 1.1.7-2.2mdk, which was listed as the update for Mandrake 7.2). The printer works, for example: ls -l > /dev/lp0 prints a directory listing perfectly. However, when I try to install a trusty dot-matrix printer: /usr/bin/lpadmin -p KXP1123 -E -v parallel:/dev/lp0 -m /usr/share/cups/model/Panasonic/KX-P1123-epson.ppd I get the following error: lpadmin: add-printer failed: client-error-not-found Using cups' web interface, I get a screen saying that the printer was installed sucessfully, but then it's not there when I go to look at printers (I expect the same error is occuring, I just don't get to see the message). I've searched through the newsgroups for this error message, but haven't found any answer. Has anyone else solved such a problem? It's not addressed in the cups documentation. Greg Helledy PS: Mandrake 7.2 SNF uses kernel 2.2.19 I also have samba (2.0.7-18mdk) installed and it works perfectly. Privileged/Confidential information may be contained in this message.
