Why, yes, you did. 8^) I was just emphasizing that if you build your own PC with specs similar to the Wal-mart PC, be careful when choosing a Winmodem, if you actually want to use one.


I picked up a Winmodem for my father because it was low cost, he is running Windows, and his CPU is now so fast that it won't matter if the modem pulls some cycles from it. Winmodem support in Linux is a good thing because it allows one to contruct a lower cost PC with the lowest cost (free!) software. On my laptop, I have a Winmodem and both Linux and WinXP; the modem works very well under both OS'es. Lucent Chipset.
