There were two very similar archives with the drivers, they did nearly
the same thing.

You want to make sure the USB modules compiled and it's seeing your USB bus -- "dmesg | grep usb" should show a bunch of stuff. Also make sure the videodev kernel module is there, but since you said you use v4l for other things that's probably fine.


From the looks of your errors I would say you don't have the USB stuff loaded, but the whole non-GPL module thing has always been mysterious to me, so there may be more to it.
