Yes, using a gnome app will use gnome liba (Is GAIM really gnome, or just
gtk though), and using KDE apps will use the KDE libs... realistically, I
am almost always runnint at least ONE kde app, even though I use gnome.  A
lot of people I know use KDE but use evolution over kmail, etc.  I would
suggest using Gabber, but that's gnome too.  I think I personally will
learn to live with the fact that at least QT and GTK will probably both be
loaded most of the time - that's why my ram is for ;)
