Are you using a USB expansion card? I think one of the old PC's I have
here is a 5x86. As I recall, it was flaky.
For what it is worth, you can get a USB bus to work on an AMD 5x86 which
is only a fast 486. I know because I have and the camara, an Agfa, works
fine.
