Re: [PLUG] OT: Mouse Protocols

Erm, not necessarily. You probably won't be able to find a serial
mouse with the features you mention (a wheel, maybe; optical
probably not).

I have, not in use due to rough movement even though it is clean, a non-optical Micro$oft ps/2 wheel mouse which came with a serial adapter. In that case the adapter would definately work. I found this which states that "/This requires that the mouse handles both protocols. A mouse like this is sometimes referred to as a combo-mouse./" http://www.hardwarebook.net/adapter/serial/mouseps2serial.html Which is curiously different from this:

A decent USB card (for bonus points, one with USB 2.0 and Firewire
ports too) is worth the investment, I'd agree.

In the end the advice was good. Good. I feel better.
