Got a strange problem ... I have a machine running Libranet 2.0 here (it's a Debian based distribution). It runs DNS and a few other things. I now want to add DHCP serving to it. I'm using stable .. root@handyman:/etc/apt# more /etc/apt/sources.list # See sources.list(5) for more information #Libranet deb http://libranetlinux.com updates-2.0/ #Debian deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian stable contrib non-free deb-src ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free #Debian Non-US deb http://non-us.debian.org/ stable/non-US main contrib non-free deb-src http://non-us.debian.org/ stable/non-US main contrib non-free #Debian security updates deb ftp://security.debian.org/debian-security stable/updates main contrib non-free deb-src ftp://security.debian.org/debian-security stable/updates main contrib non-free Yet, when I tell it to search for DHCP packages ... root@handyman:/etc/apt# apt-cache search dhcp adminmenu - Libranet Adminmenu pump - Simple DHCP/BOOTP client. 'scuse me? According to the web page, there should be stable dhcp3-server 3.0+3.0.1rc9-2 (454.1k) DHCP server for automatic IP address assignment stable dhcp3-common 3.0+3.0.1rc9-2 (174.2k) Common files used by all the dhcp3* packages. I did do a apt-get update. So how come it can't seem to find something so basic as DHCP? How can I totally remove the apt database of available packages, and rebuild? Not the database of installed packages, tho. -- PGP Fingerprint: 0AA8 DC47 CB63 AE3F C739 6BF9 9AB4 1EF6 5AA5 BCDF Member, LEAF Project <http://leaf.sourceforge.net> AIM: MikeLeone Public Key - <http://www.mike-leone.com/~turgon/turgon-public-key.asc> Registered Linux user# 201348 _________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug
