there might be, there might not be.

  euryclea-p0-jaw 11% uname -sr
  NetBSD 1.5.2

  euryclea-p0-jaw 12% ls /proc /kern
  ls: /kern: No such file or directory
  ls: /proc: No such file or directory


a quick look tells me that exactly half of my NetBSD
boxes do, and half don't. shrug.
