I'm not sure about packages, but the way I got PHP to work with MySQL was to
compile it with the MySQL option and pointed it to the MySQL development
libraries. It sounds as though this should help your problem. If you need
further assistance, let me know and I can give you some instructions. This,
of course, assumes that you have admin rights tio the box you are working
with.
