I have a nike PSA Play that I got real cheap for going to the gym. 32mb built in memory with a MMC slot for another 64mb. 96MB is plenty of music for a work out. You can also get an optional armstrap although they are getting more expensive. I've seen my model selling new on ebay for under $50, there is another model w/ more memory and those come w/ the armstrap. These older RIO players are a lot cheaper then the new Phillips/Nike mp3 players. Anyway...I use mine on Linux with the following software http://rioutil.sourceforge.net/ I use an older version for uploading software (newer version corrupted files) and a newer version for viewing, deleting, etc. I wrote a small Perl script to wrap around the older software to allow the upload of multiple songs since that is one thing it lacks. I'm sure if I updated the ROM on my mp3 player everything might work fine w/ the new software but I figure what I have works so I'm not about to break it. If you want any more detailed info you can mail me off list and I can send you the exact version numbers of what I'm running and the Perl script I use once I get home. Oh yeah, all this is running fine under a fairly standard RH 7.2 install. I just joined a gym and my CD player keeps falling out of my pants when I bring it there. I want to get a portable MP3 player, but I want to find out which ones work with Linux before I spent the considerable amount of money that they are on one of them. Anyone have any ideas?
