There has been a lot of discussion on this list about sparc so I thought I'd pose this question. Can you install Solaris 9 on an old 50mhz sparc LX clone with 64 megs of ram and a 4 gig hard drive?
You need at least a sun4m and IIRC about 96MB RAM minimum. That said, I've gotten it to install on something as old as an SS4 (as well as SS5, SS10 and SS20). For that hardware you're either looking at one of the BSD's, Aurora Linux (like Red Hat 7.3), or Debian methinks. Chris Hedemark ..
