Using smbpasswd will keep Linux and Samba passwords in sync. WinXP can
use encrypted passwords (I've never changed the registry in XP to
connect to Samba). I thought a limitation would be mounting of home
directories, but I can think of how to do it.

are some pitfalls to watch for.
- Keeping passwords sync'd between linux and Samba. (Only a problem if your
MS users also log on to the linux box)
- MS Windows XP has a registry entry for encryption that must be unset for
XP to work properly with Samba.
