RE: [PLUG] Home Networking Question

A wireless router should work between 3 stories especially if you put in
on the second floor. You can also put higher gain antennas on them. The
antennas are BNC or TNC mounted. Hygain makes a couple of models of
vetical antennas, one has a 10DBi gain. They are made for outside mounting
but could just as easily be used indoors. I am sure there are other
companies that make similiar products.

Interference is always a problem either from other wireless products or
things like microwave ovens. I have a 2.4Ghz portable phone and I cannot
use it with 10 feet of my microwave oven when it is in use. The base is on
the second floor on the other end of the house. I am sure if it were in
the same or next room it would be OK. So positioning is important. If it
is a row home you may not have much control over your neighbors microwave
or other wirless products that could be just on the other side of a common
wall.

Most wireless products allow either manual or automatic selection of
channels to help eliminate interference problems.
