Of the products you are likely to find at retail stores, I like Linksys
the best. I have had decidedly inferior experiences with various D-link
and Netgear products. For instance, the Netgear MR814 has several
serious firmware problems (the one that really anoys me is that it drops
connections from its NAT table after only 5 minutes without a packet.
This makes using ssh a real pain). It was released last summer, and
there is still no updated firmware available.

I have an Orinocco AP w/ NAT router that has given me no problems so far
(although I am using it as a plain AP). Good signal strength, despite
it's lack of an external antenna.

I found the dslreports forums helpful when I was shopping for the
Orinocco.
