Re: [PLUG] OSS desktop (windows) anti-virus?

Oh, I didn't notice that this was a direct question. Get McAfee AV. I know versions 6.x and 7.x allow you to manually download DAT files for free. Older versions like 4.x allowed a free auto update service to be configured.

Check http://nai.com/ or http://mcafee.com/ for DAT updates.

McAfee and stores offers good rebate and discount deals for McAfee products. I bought AV 6 online for $15 and got a free upgrade to 7. And I just bought a free-after-rebate Spam Killer from Best Buy.

Does anyone know if there is any good OSS windows anti-virus software taht
is pretty good? Or, better yet - does anyone know how to get around norton
live-update subscription service so that virus definitions are
atuomatically updated without this subscription service? A 1 year
subscription comes with the software, after that you have to pay again and
again.
