you should request the data on tabulating cards... see what happens... -- jon -----Original Message----- From: plug-admin@lists.phillylinux.org [mailto:plug-admin@lists.phillylinux.org]On Behalf Of Edmund Goppelt Sent: Monday, March 31, 2003 1:25 PM To: plug@lists.phillylinux.org Subject: [PLUG] Computer History Question Does anyone know what the following refer to? 1. "Electronic Tape" 2. "Common Lanuage Tape, Channels_____" 3. "Tabulating Cards" 4. "Wire Tranmission Bell Telephone" I recently asked the City of Philadelphia for deed records on CD. The above list are the storage media the City says it can provide the records on. I'm guessing from other forms that (1) refers to nine track tape. I'm not sure what (2) is. Does anyone here know? Could "Common Language" refer to Cobol? (3) I assume means punch cards. Does (4) mean downloading via modem or something else? Can anyone shed some light here? Thanks. -- Ed Goppelt http://www.hallwatch.org _________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug _________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug
