Linux file systems permissions don't seem to matter as much when running through Samba. Permissions should be set through smb.conf. Of course, logging in at a console could allow a user to by-pass Samba's access controls. But, what is the goal? Hard security to prevent unauthorized access, or a fail-safe environment where users won't accidentally destroy information? The second case is easier to deal with. _________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug
