Join team responsible for managing a mixed network
running Solaris and Redhat Linux on Sun and Compaq servers/workstations. As
this environment continues to grow, and more applications are ported onto Linux , we seek a Sr. Linux Admin to work on all aspects
of administering a mixed Solaris/ Linux mission critical 24x7 trading
environment. The user base comprises 20 technical and 20 non-technical users,
and you would work closely with the real-time trading systems developers and
end-users. Your responsibilities would include traditional administration
responsibilities to advanced data warehousing, firewalls, networking, performance tuning, optimization and application
administration issues.
Top project and challenge for next 6 months is a new office environment build
out. Be involved in a complete build out of the Unix/Linux infrastructure.
Primary responsibilities:
Administer Compaq Redhat 7- 9.x,/AS and
Sun Solaris 8 workstations/servers running in a 24x7 environment.
-Configure and install new machines Compaq Xeon/Itanium 2 and Sun
UltraSparc3.
-Basic Linux /Unix administration kickstart/jumpstart server builds, NFS, NIS,
shell scripting, performance tuning, and end-user support.
-Implement software and hardware RAID solutions, including Veritas Volume
Manager, Solaris Volume Manager, Compaq smart arrays, StorEdge T3s and 3510
FC arrays.
-Research, evaluate and implement fault tolerant and HA solutions including
Veritas Cluster Server and Redhat Cluster Manager.
-Administer Linux /Solaris to Windows connectivity using Samba and Exceed.
-Support Sybase DBAs system requirements, currently utilizing 20+ Terabytes
of disk space.
-Maintain development environment for real-time electronic trading
applications.
Shared responsibilities:
-Administer enterprise backup systems running Legato Networker and
using SpectraLogic 64000 tape libraries (AIT3/645 slot).
-Administer firewalls running Rainwall High Availability software with
Checkpoint NG.
-Backup Network administrator on Cisco/Riverstone 10/100/Gigabit Ethernet LAN
and WAN network
-Backup Trade System Administrator on TIBCO real-time financial data
distribution network, and stand-alone screens such as Reuters and Bloomberg.
Requirements of the Candidate:
-3+ years of hands-on Linux experience supporting sophisticated
mission critical environments.
-Given the mission critical nature of our applications you must have the
ability to work very well under pressure, and keep abreast of current
technology.
-University degree required.
-Exposure to networking, NT, SQL, Sybase, Perl would be assets.
-TIBCO/Rendezvous and Solaris experience would be a strong plus.
The work environment is a fast-pace, demanding environment and only seasoned Linux
Admins with a commanding understanding of the technology listed will be
considered for this role. Also, because of the critical need for this
