ok, excellent, thank you. the new patches made everything work exactly as I was hoping for(except for my firewall, it was too strict, but that is another story). Indeed - One can have multiple paths with varying priorities applied to the bridges in the paths, and the optimal path based upon the cost of each route is put into forwarding mode and the other(s) blocked.
