You can specify a host, it's MAC address, and the fixed address you want to assign if using dhcpd. Look through the MAN pages for an example. We use DHCP at work. I am able to assign "fixed" addresses to all the desktops and particular laptops. Others get regular DHCP allocated addresses. Now....if I can only figure out how to get dhcpd to automatically update my DNS server, I'll be truly happy.
