Re: [PLUG] finding the IP

I bounce my router's IP off of my remote Web server.

I've got a script (perl, natch) that emails me from a linux server when
it's IP address changes. It uses cron to check hourly and compares
against a file with the last IP.

It determines the IP by parsing the output of "ifconfig eth1".

Sadly, this does not work on a Verizon DSL line --- must be because of
the use of PPPOE? /sbin/route does not work either... the IP is simply
not there.

Anyone know how to reliably determine the IP address of a box that's
using PPPOE?
