[PLUG] sound on sparcstation using kde

I have a sparcstation 5 with aurora linux on it and kde 3.  When I boot up 
it gives me the message that it cannot  find /dev/dsp and sets the sound to 
/dev/null.  Does anyone have experience with this?  I would like to get 
sound working on this machine and am not sure where to begin.
