the image gallery should be available in file manager mode under the "Tools" 
menu.  If its not then there might have been a bug in the package.  Mandrake 
is never really good about testing anything they put out, so people have had 
better milage with 3rd party packages.  

Lastly did you restart your kde between testing this and installing it?  
Sometimes if konqueror is preloaded then it may not pick up plugins right 
away.

Did you check that any old libraries where installed that where causing an 
issue here?
