One look at Europe's telecom industry will tell you that. They share
standards and implementation details so that all European carriers use
the same protocols and frequencies for cell phones, and as a result,
almost everyone of age has a cell phone (or more) and the service
quality is excellent even when far away from your originating area.
Everybody wins. They all make a lot of money, and the customer gets a
quality service that they can depend on.
