i'm no debian expert, but I usually use dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 to configure X on woody. The error message looks like it was unable to load the extmod module. Maybe you should attach your XF86Config file, as its syntax seems unacceptable to the X server reading it. Is there a chance you are mixing parts of version 3 and version 4 of xfree86? philip On Mon, Jan 05, 2004 at 11:15:48AM -0500, admin admin wrote: > just installed debian woody. everything is great, except i'm having a problem getting xwindows working. i've been using the xf86config to try to get it working. > > i'm not exactly sure what info you might need to help troubleshoot this problem. i'm pretty sure i've got the right xserver installed... > > here is an error message i'm seeing: > > dbe: Unknown error loading module > Config Error: /etc/X11/XF86Config:48 > SubSection "extmod" > Module section keyword expected > X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown) > > tia, > mack > http://www.mackines.com/ > > ___________________________________________________________________________ > Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org > Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce > General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- MartNet InterNet Services 99.9% pure http://www.martnet.com ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
