Re: [PLUG] apache + php + mySQL

Two excellent books are
1. _MySQL/PHP Database Applications_ by Bulger, Greenspan, and Wall
(and tech edited by yours truly), and
2. _PHP Fast and Easy_ by Julie Meloni.
The second one is short but effective.
In addition to looking at www.php.net and www.mysql.com, you will also
want to develop some facility with HTML. I found the Sybex book _HTML
Complete_ not to be complete but nevertheless useful.
IT work is truly hard to find. It is my perception that there is more
work on the M$ side than the LAMP side, however.

Trying to upgrade my skills.
I am looking for a good resource for
a) setting up apache-driven web page
b) links to MySQL database
c) php scripts
What would be most helpful is a CASE STUDY where something like this
has been done.
IT work has been hard to find of late.
I may return to teach in the high school classroom.
I think a project like this is doable with some of our best local kids.

PS Group was very helpful with my 1st question "recently" on IP Tables.
Much thanks!
