Re: [PLUG] machines (and parts) to a good home

I will take the Pentium 2 machine if it is still available. I can use one of the processors to upgrade a working P2 machine I have.

Thanks,

Michael

I have two machines that are not wholly functional, but are free if
anyone wants them:

  - a 2 x 350 MHz P2 box that used to boot (two years ago when last I
tried) but did not display anything on the monitor this morning
    when I tried.

  - a 650 MHz (or so) P3 clone with no power supply and a questionable
    motherboard.

Both machines have video and ethernet, the P3 has onboard sound
(assuming the motherboard works).

In addition, the hard drive story is a bit sad. There's a 4 GB scsi
drive that probably works fine, but the dual P2's motherboard scsi
support is dead. There are three IDE hd's, at 6 GB, 12 GB, and
probably 20 GB, which are also free if you reformat them in front of
me. Otherwise I take a hammer to them and put them in the trash,
since I don't remember what's on them.

Such a deal! Good thing they're free.

I'm at 44th and Pine in University City (Philadelphia). As you might
imagine, you're competing with the trash truck at the curb, so you'll
have to pick them up from me unless you're somewhere I'm going anyway.

On the flip side, I'm looking for a machine, for which I'd pay up to about $50, to run a stereo. It just needs to have ethernet and sound support that work under debian. If anyone's got such a box that they'd like to unload, drop me a line. I'd offer to trade, but I don't know why you'd trade me something functioning for the above pile of dreck. ;-)
