Is anyone using Linux as a music and/or video server? I had been looking at the Onkyo series of "net tune" receivers but I am also considering doing it as a standalone box in conjunction with a "better" pre-amp, like a B&K. I would envision a Linux cd or USB memory card bootable system with a good audio card like a SB audigy that has optical or coax output to the preamp. It would have ethernet to connect to the server. I would store my music, ripped from my CD's on a server probably in a near lossless MP3 or WMA format. I haven't thought much about video since that take a lot of space. Maybe I will wait for the terabyte perpendicular recording drives coming out next year.
