RE: [PLUG] ethernet wiring in walls

Title: RE: [PLUG] ethernet wiring in walls

Here is the el-cheapo method....

Need:

1. 9v battery
2. 9v battery connector to wires
3. a short cable end with exposed wires
4. a cable connector box to screws (or another
short cable if both ends have jacks)
5. 1 LED

FIRST: DISCONNECT ALL EQUIPMENT FROM NETWORK

connect battery to battery clip
connect + and - to two wires on either end
connect the led to the same two wires on the other end
If the light goes on, good, if not reverse the led to
make sure the polarity is correct, if still no. There's
a bad wire pair, now pair them up one by one to isolate
which of the two is the actual bad wire.

If it's just a bad single wire, you could try using one of
the unused connectors (4+5 and 7+8??) in that wire as a replacement route,
to avoid pulling or redoing that wire.
