I have been trying to find a distro to replace my reliable, but aging, RH 7.3.  Tried Mandrake 9.2, but could never get Samba to work.  Tried upgrading to Mandrake 10.0 and 10.1, but refused to install no matter how many different ways I tried.  Wanted to try SuSe 9.2, but the DVD I got from Novell doesn't have ISOs so that a friend could burn CDs, and no DVD here.

So I'm going to try Ubuntu...

Really basic [dumb?] question: I know how to install over windows.  I know how to create a dual boot system.  But what is the recommended way to install into partitions that host one Linux distro (Mandrake 9.2) without disturbing a productively functioning backup distro (Red Hat 7.3)?
