I think you guys missed the point. I would go to anyone who would serve me
if I could. The problem is if you are on an RT (remote terminal) Verizon
connection, third party DSL providers do not have access. That is what I
mean by no competition. If you are on an RT it is Verizon or nothing for
DSL and Verizon does not provide static on RT's.

The only choice I would have with Verizon is ISDN or a more expensive
connect like fractional T1, etc.

Competitors (covad) claim they can do IDSL but it is pricey - $120/month
and $400 equipment. IDSL is really IDSN without voice which gives you the
full 144/144 line, far short of any ADSL.

I would estimate that at least 30% and growing Verizon customers are on
RT's. So this applies to a large number of residences and businesses.
