All, It's terribly simple to assign a fixed address through DHCP by using the MAC address of the client, such as: host samwise { hardware ethernet 00:11:24:2d:5a:64; fixed-address x.y.z.35; } I've been over the man pages, I've STFW'd, and *tried* to search the dhcp-server list archives over at MARC (which seems to have an utterly broken search feature), all to no avail. Why do I want to use the client id? For machines like my PowerBook that have both a wired and wireless interface. Sometimes I connect them to the house network with a wire, sometimes over the air. I'd like them to get the same address assigned by DHCP in either case though. -- Jason Costomiris <>< E: jcostom {at} gmail {dot} com / W: http://www.jasons.org/ 186,000 miles per second. It's not just a good idea, it's the law. ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
