Calling all Linux admins looking for a full-time position in Colmar PA.  See below for the details.

Job Title   :                                       Systems Administrator/DBA
Department   :                                  Information Systems
Reports To   :                                                  Administrator Manager

 
 Summary :    Maintains internal systems, coordinates physical changes to computer databases; codes, tests and implements physical database by performing the duties listed below.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Installs and maintains all UNIX operating systems.
 
Provides system level assistance to users, including help with logins, passwords and printers.
 
Supports all operating system level scripting.
 
Analyzes system performance, identifies bottlenecks and suggests improvements.
 
Manages all upgrades and backups.
 
Researches and implements security strategies.
 
Configures and manages NFS & NIS environments.
 
Designs, configures and supports cluster configuration.
 
Manages remote client dial-in access.
 
Monitors network traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware.
 
Configures, creates and maintains all databases located on UNIX operating systems.
 
Establishes physical database parameters.
 
Codes database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions.
 
Calculates optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database.
 
Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data.
 
Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.
 
Monitors database and system performance to determine best use of computer resources such as available memory and disk space.
 
Reviews and corrects programs.
 
Answers user questions.
 
Confers with co-workers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to database.
 
Modifies database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning.

Education and/or Experience :     Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and at least three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Language Skills :  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
 
Reasoning Ability :    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 
Computer Skills :  Strong UNIX skills including system administration knowledge in a HP-UX environment.  Database administration skills using Progress and/or Oracle database software.
