[PLUG] ADSL2 and ADSL2+

Does anybody know anything about ADSL2 and ADSL2+?
(new high-speed, longer-distance standards.)

Verizon is apparently rolling out one or the other
in the Phila area -- but I have no idea which technology
 is being used.

I'm just in the process of upgrading my old 1.5meg
DCAnet DSL line to 3.0 meg

I happen to have an original Westel Infospeed modem,
which I assume is not compatible with the new speeds,
but I have no idea.

I know that TI has a new chipset for ADSL2, but I don't
know what that implies.

I've just loaded a white paper from www.aware.com on
the subject but haven't yet had a chance to read it.
