Greetings, all.

I'm new to Philly, and to this list.  This may be my first post (though
I can't remember).

I used to have something like the "geek net" being described when I
lived near MIT.  It was pretty neat, and worked well enough when the
folks running it weren't stress testing the system.

nodes consisted of small form factor PCs with PCI->PCMCIA adaptors and
PCMCIA 802.11b cards with external antenna jacks.  On each rooftop was
an omnidirectional antenna.

each node ran a DHCP serving 1918 addresses on its ethernet interface,
unless it was an internet gateway node.

i think the whole project is on sourceforge...
