My wife is making me get rid of my first computer, a Toshiba T5100 portable. Some points about this machine: * one of the first "clamshell" portables. The previous boxes were like suitcases -- one side detached to reveal the screen and the detached part contained the keyboard. * Portable didn't mean battery powered. * Weighs 17 lbs. * Nice leather case. * EGA, not VGA. It is a color card when plugged into an external monitor, but the internal screen is that orange monochrome (16 shades) gas plasma. I think my wife threw out the external monitor a couple of years ago. Has a hot key utility to toggle remapping of colors to shades of gray to maximize readability. * The best built in keyboard I have ever used. * Originally came with a 386-16; upgraded to a 486-33 * Originally came with 2 MB RAM; upgraded to the maximum 4 MB. * Originally came with 40 MB HDD; upgraded to 100 MB (at a cost of $600). * Came with DOS 3.3, the first to offer support for partitions as large as 40 MB. Upgraded to MS-DOS 5 (or maybe DR-DOS 7) * Original manuals. * Built in 9600 modem. Of obvious sentimental (and "great historical") value. Free to a good home. Email me off list with questions or arrangements. -- _______________________________________ Art Alexion Arthur S.
