I recently installed Sun's JRE, and set the path in .bash_profile. Whenever I try to execute java it executes /usr/bin/java, GIJ, which I do not want. When I type "echo $PATH" I get the following output: /usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/java/jre1.5.0_06/bin:/home/michael/bin:/usr/java/jre1.5.0_06/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/java/jre1.5.0_06/bin Do I need to remove /usr/bin from the path? If so, how do I do it? I tried removing GIJ with no luck. Any clues on how to deal with this conflict?
