Ok since I did not get any response I am an updating this. I did manage to get sound but it seems I have to run alsaconf at each boot, then go into kmix and turn on digital output and set levels. Yes I am using digital speakers. So my hardware works but how do I get it to boot and work? In perusing google it seems that there is much trouble with alsa sound in linux but no one seems to have a definitive answer. Doug original message... I just installed SUSE 10 on a P4 2Ghz machine that I previously had WinXP installed on. I am using KDE. My sound worked fine in XP but I am having problems with it in Linux. The sound card is a sound Blaster Audigy and the hardware section of YAST finds and identifies it. Unfortunately any of the supplied audio packages seem to crash when trying to play sound. Any ideas? ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
