[PLUG] C++ compilers/IDE for Linux

Hello all!
I am transitioning from C (AIX) to C++ Linux and am wondering
what C++ compilers (and much more importantly) what IDE's
people have tried.
I am looking for a rapid app dev type gui environment which I can run
on both Windows and Linux. I have used the command based g++ on Unix/Linux,
however I need something that is cross-platform friendly (I have Visual C++ and don't particularly like it)
and would like some suggestions based on your experience both for simple (command line) and advanced
(gui-based) apps. Ultimately I would like to port to GTK as well, so an IDE that might help with this would
be great.
I will be running Linux RH Workstation with Oracle 10g as an operating env, with some
MySQL as well.

Thanks in advance to all!
