I want to permit dhcp hosts on my network to use my mail server, at least if they have a purple.com address. But I have already specified "purple.com" in dc_other_hostnames in /etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf (a debian-ism): dc_other_hostnames='localhost.localdomain:purple.com:astra.purple.com:purple-uucp.com:puddle.purple.com:pond.purple.com:local' The errors in /var/log/exim4/rejectlog look like this: 2006-07-15 00:55:50 H=laptop-name.local [192.168.0.114] F=<xyz@purple.com> rejected RCPT <x@y.z>: relay not permitted 2006-07-15 00:55:50 H=laptop-name.local [192.168.0.114] F=<xyz@purple.com> rejected RCPT <x@y.z>: relay not permitted 2006-07-15 00:55:52 unexpected disconnection while reading SMTP command from laptop-name.local [192.168.0.114] (I added "local" to dc_other_hostnames due to this error message.) Does anyone know what the right incantation is? I'm also concerned that I don't open a relay whole for hosts off my network who simply claim to be 192.168 addresses or purple.com addresses. So I'm reluctant to try too much at random without understanding. Thanks in advance for any pointers. -- Jeff Jeff Abrahamson <http://jeff.purple.com/> +1 215/837-2287 GPG fingerprint: 1A1A BA95 D082 A558 A276 63C6 16BF 8C4C 0D1D AE4B Attachment:
