Subject: [PLUG] Capturing the timestamps of files
Here's my task: Measure the rate of a process by taking digital
pictures of the process and then relating the elapsed time between
images to the changes seen in the images.
Here's my dilemma: Win98SE apparently won't let me see the seconds
in the file's timestamp, but at least the timestamp is preserved
when copying the file from the original floppy to my hard drive.
Debian, bless its heart, lets me see the timestamp out to the
nearest second, but changes the timestamp when the file is copied
onto the hard drive.
In Windows, a proprietary product called Directory Printer will let
me print out the contents of a drive in a wide variety of formats,
and I could use that to get my information from the floppy disks
without the laborious process of writing it out longhand. Is there
a similar [free, I presume] product available in debian which will
do the same general tasks as Directory Printer ? That would save
me from having to accumulate a large inventory of write-protected
floppies.
Of course, I could do a screen capture, but that seems utterly
wasteful and almost as tedious as longhand copying ...
