I'm using FIOS, though in the Harrisburg area.

I've had good experiences with it, and over the two months I've had it
have not experienced any downtime (even when the cable went out during
the past few storms we've had).

I'm not using the router they provided, I'm using a hardware router
running Linux, and that definitely works great :-)  It's standard
ethernet, just using DHCP to snag your IP address.

Rumor has it some locations still require you to use PPPOE, but the same
rumors suggest that's being phased out.
