[PLUG] FON? Anyone heard of it or used it?

I just found this on hack-a-day. FON, http://en.fon.com/, is a 
grassroots wifi sharing community based on Linksys routers with modified 
firmware. Interesting concept. There are even a few users listed in the 
Philadelphia area (although their maps are wonky. A zip code near me 
gets directed to Roosevelt Blvd).

Anyone had any experience with them?
