Check out the Lubic kits (http://www.lubic.com.tw/lubic-kit/). I built an airplane case for my sons school which had quite an impact. WIth the MB & H/W out in the open, my thoughts were that this would be a great way to see what things are and walk through how the system works. I loaded it with SuSe 9.2 (current at the time) so even the Computer Lab teacher was interested. I bought it through zipzoomfly.com and the only recommendation for additions would be some lucite/plexiglass cover around the H/W.
