Have you considered using a virtual server?

There are also other companies that will also give you your choice of
operating system and distribution.  On my unixshell account I am running
Debian Linux with MySQL, Apache, Php4, and Exim4

You install whatever software you want using apt-get and it works fine.
 In the past there was some hardware problems with their raid but they
fixed the problem.

I hope that this helps and also saves you some money.
